Books and Sundry
Young Horatio Hornblower, C.S. Forester: I love to sniff the old torn spine of this book. I sit primly on the open pages and just rest my nose on the book, getting a high from the musty, basement-y odor.
The Bastable Children, E. Nesbit: It's soft, faded linen cover is almost as tattered & smelly as YHH.
The Father Christmas Letters, J.R.R. Tolkien: I am only able to smell this rare secondhand copy during Advent, and I have to sneak to sit on it when no one is looking.

Ack! I totally agree. When I spoke with Joel for the first time, I gave him my personal test. I told him what I was reading currently and asked what he was reading.
I usually got a response from men who would say they didn't read or just read the Bible. Hmm... Did they really?
Anyway, Joel not only commented that he had read the same author that I was, he gave me a list, yes, a LIST of books he was currently reading. As in more than one. One of which was a book in the Lord of the Rings. He said he wasn't a fantasy reader until he started reading these book.
It's been a match made in book heaven ever since.
